ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

Bergen Interactive Music Conference (BIMUC) is an international conference focusing on new challenges for music education in schools, universities, communities and
art institutions. The aim of the conference is to gather together researchers,
teachers and artists to share and discuss research and new approaches to
music in learning and creative and artistic development of young people.
The conference language is English.

The Conference is co-ordinated with the music festival Bergen Fest 2008,
an annual international music festival consisting of a great number of concerts,
youth programmes and other music events. BIMUC also includes a sequense of
symposia on music education and traditional music. The conference is
organised as an academic conference with invited speakers
and a variety of presentations and interactive sessions in different focus areas.

The first international Bergen Interactive Music Conference (BIMUC)
is successful history

BIMUC-07 was held in the city of Bergen, Norway from Wednesday 25th through Friday the 27th of April in close cooperation between Stord/Haugesund University College, Grieg Music Education and the international music festival BergenFest 2007.

The first international BIMUC turned out to be the international vibrant meeting place for teachers, performers and projectors we hoped for.

Enthusiastic speakers and delegates from different sectors of music and music education shared and engaged in debates about new projects, research and perspectives on music learning and the creative and artistic development of young people.

To all of you who took part: THANK YOU!

Online proceedings with texts, pictures and video are available on this website.
